On 9 July 2026 the UK regulator fined the operator of fapello.com for failing to check visitors’ ages. The site now blocks UK visitors. Here is what happened, and why a UK block does not take your content down.
Fapello is one of the sites where creators most often find their content. On 9 July 2026, Ofcom, the UK’s online safety regulator, fined its operator £630,000 under the Online Safety Act.
£630KTotal fineAnnounced 9 July 2026.
£600KFor age checksNo “highly effective” age assurance.
£30KInformation requestMissed a legally binding deadline.
£200/dayUntil fixedOr until 7 Sep 2026.
What Ofcom decided
JAN 2026UK visitors blockedBiometric Update reports the site added age checks, withdrew them, then blocked UK IP addresses.
9 JUL 2026The fine£600,000 for not having highly effective age checks, plus £30,000 for missing an information request deadline.
9 JUL – 7 SEPDaily penalty£200 a day for continued non-compliance, until fixed or 7 September 2026.
ONGOINGStill in scopeOfcom says the site remains in scope of the Act even with the UK block, and keeps monitoring it.
Ofcom’s Director of Enforcement, George Lusty, put it plainly: “Age checks are no longer optional for porn sites in the UK.”
Ofcom is not stopping there
It widened its investigation into kemono.cr to cover a possible failure to answer an information request. That case was opened on 12 May 2026 and has no findings yet.
It opened a new investigation into Bit Hive, the operator of eporner.com.
In a separate case it fined First Time Videos LLC £80,000, and found that a paywall is not effective age assurance, because debit cards are not limited to adults.
Why this does not remove your content
The fine is about age checks, not copyright. Ofcom did not order any content removed, and the usual result is a UK block, not a shutdown. Your content stays online for everyone outside the UK, and Google still shows the pages.
A UK block is not a takedownIf you are in the UK, Fapello may now look “gone” to you. It is not. Check with a VPN or a scan from another country before you assume your content was removed.
